UPSC SCRA 2014 examination is going to be conducted soon in January 2014. The Online registration of UPSC SCRA 2014 Examination is already over. SCRA stands for Special Class Railway Apprentice. This examination is conducted by Union Public Service Commission (UPSC). The application dates are already over. So, the candidates who have applied for SCRA 2014 will be attending the examination on 12.1.2014.
Through SCRA examination merit score, you are given an opportunity to pursue B.E in Mechanical Engineering in Railway Institution. There is a bright future for you in Indian Railways, if you get pass mark in SCRA examination. The degree awarded to you is recognized by All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE).
Along with the award of degree, you will receive a sum of Rs.10,000 per month as stipend. The stipend will be given for a whole of 4 years. So do work hard. This article will help those candidates to do better in SCRA 2014.
Eligibility criteria for UPSC SCRA 2014 Examination:
SCRA 2014 Educational Qualifications:
You should have passed XII class with PCM stream from a recognized board. PCM is physics, Chemistry, Mathematics. Other stream students are not eligible to apply for SCRA 2014 examination.
You must be between 17 to 21 years in age as on 1st August, 2014.
Scheme of SCRA 2014 Examination:
The SCRA examination has two parts say
- Part A –Written examination
- Part B- Personality test.
The written examination has three papers namely
- Paper I
- Paper II
- Paper III.
Paper I is General Ability Test. It includes English, General Knowledge, and Physiological test. The total marks for Paper I is 200. You will be given 2 hours time to answer Paper I.
Paper II is Physical Sciences. It includes Physics and Chemistry. The total marks for Paper II is 200. You will be given 2 hours time to answer Paper II
Paper III will test your mathematical skills. You have questions only from Mathematics subject. The total marks for Paper III is 200. You will be given 2 hours time to answer Paper III.
So, the total marks for the written examination is 600.
The total marks for Personality test is 200.Those who have qualified the written examination will be called for personality test. The question paper will be available only in English language. After you qualify the personality test, you will be called for Medical examination. It is a national level examination. The total number of seats allocated to intake students is only 56 (All India level). So the competition will be quite much difficult.
Syllabus for SCRA 2014 Examination:
You must have good knowledge in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics, General Knowledge subjects studied in XI and XII classes.
The topics under Physics are
- Electricity and Magnetism,
- Modern Physics,
- Optics. etc.,
The topics under Chemistry are
- Organic chemistry,
- Inorganic chemistry and
- General chemistry.
In Mathematics, you will have to prepare under
- Integral Calculus,
- Differential calculus,
- Analytic geometry,
- Probability etc.,
Books for SCRA 2014 Examination:
- You can follows the books written by H.C. Verma, I.E. Irodov, R.J Smith , Resnick and Halliday.
- You can follow the books of Morrison & Boyd, Parmar Chawla, J.D. Lee, O.P. Agarwall, R.C. Mukerjee.
- You can follow “High school mathematics “ by Hall and Knight “IIT Maths” by M.L. Khanna. Other popular authors are G.N.Berman, Thomas , Loney, I.A.Maron.
