Why GATE Exam Important for engineers?

GATE stands for Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering. It is conducted for the admission of Master of Engineering/ Master in Technology (M.E/M.Tech.,) across top engineering institutes in India. If you want to do your post graduation in Engineering at Indian Institute of Technology, National Institute of Technology and other centrally funded universities, then GATE score is a must. This exam is conducted by IITs in collaboration with Government of India and Ministry of Human Resources Development. Many of the PSUs recruit through GATE 2014 score.

The following are the benefits of writing GATE 2014:

Government Sector Jobs Entrance examination: Few entrance examinations like SAIL, GAIL, HAL, BSNL conduct separate written examination for their recruitment’s. If you prepare well for GATE, you can easily crack those examinations. The question papers of such examinations are only a subset of GATE paper.

Private Sector Jobs – Interview: GATE score helps you during your placements both on campus and off campus. If you have average marks but have qualified GATE, you will be recruited with no doubt. Few top Private core companies like ITC, Bosch, Blue star, etc., will recruit people with good technical skills. If any tie up comes between a GATE qualified student and University topper, the one with valid GATE score will be recruited. Since this examination is one among the national level toughest engineering examination held to test engineers with good technical skills and reasoning skills.

MBA Program: Through GATE score, you can obtain MBA in Industrial Engineering from NITIE, Mumbai. You may wonder how GATE score is accepted for pursuing MBA program. Yes, MBA in Industrial Engineering is a course midway between engineering and management. Only engineers are eligible to apply for this course. NITIE, Mumbai is one among the top 10 Management institute in India.

Admission to IIMs: Only through valid and good percentile in CAT examination, you can pursue MBA course at IIMs. If you have good score in GATE, just apply for Ph.D / Fellowship program at IIMs. If you have done something from IIMs, you will be rated good in the society. Along with the award of degree, you will be given a stipend of Rs. 22000 per month. The duration of the course is four years. You will be placed with 34 Lacs per annum after the completion of the course.

Study Abroad: Score card is accepted for pursuing higher education in abroad also. Few top universities at Germany, Singapore etc., will accept the valid GATE score. You will be awarded a monthly stipend to complete your course at abroad.

Better Academic Results: GATE preparation may bring you good academic performance in your undertaking course.

Higher Technical Education: Through GATE score, you can pursue M.E/ M.Tech/ Ph.D etc., at top educational institutes like IISc (Indian Institute of Science), IIT (Indian Institute of Technology), NIT (National Institute of Technology). You will be paid a monthly stipend of Rs. 10,000 for M.E/ M.Tech course. For Ph.D, the stipend will be around Rs. 16,000 per month.

Project Assistance-ship at IITs/ IISc/ NITs: Students will lower GATE score but have zeal to do project and researches are encouraged to join themselves as Project Assistance in top premier institutes. You will be absorbed with salary package after the completion of the program. The duration of this program is only 8 to 10 months.
